Neon Vehicle Combat Sandbox

Cubicide is a modular cube combat game.

Think Battlezone inspired, customizable cubes with six attachment points for weapons, springs, and anything you can imagine. Transparent shells, piles of knobs to tweak, and endless creative combinations. I'm building this in spare hours, so progress is cozy and deliberate.

Build Status

Slow-cooked cubes. Same neon attitude.

Built in spare hours between day jobs while I solder the gameplay loops. Here's the current development checklist.

Locked in

Realtime Vehicle Physics

Battlezone-inspired handling for cubes, complete with Gearbox controls, spin gear for vortex patterns, and physics that let the super-cube float around the sub-cube. Six attachment points let you customize your cube with rockets, springs, weapons, and creative combinations.

Already fun

Networking

Mesh-based WebRTC

Peer interpolation buffers, velocity prediction, and WebSocket fallbacks keep movement decent even on sleepy relays.

Tuning in spare time

Someday

Public Drop

When the cubes feel stable enough, I'll flip the switch and post it. No invite waves, just a direct download.

ETA: vibes-based

Why Cubicide?

Square windows. Loud grids. Transparent shells.

Modular Attachment System

Six attachment points on each cube let you mix and match rockets, springs, weapons, shields, and creative combinations. Build your perfect combat configuration.

🔧

Windowed Command Center

A multi-window HUD lets you drag, dock, and pop-out the game, chat, and gearbox modules just like the current dev client.

⌘

Predictive Movement

Client-side interpolation plus velocity prediction keep rivals fluid even before packets arrive.

↺

Cubefiguration System

Control the super-cube with Vortex mode (floats around the sub-cube), X lock (fixes orientation), F focus (locks sub-cube to super-cube sides), and C control (resets to locked state).

Phase 01

Prototype Labs

Got cubes driving, draggable windows, and the Gearbox meters glowing with neon precision.

Phase 02

Development Nights

Fixing interpolation, polishing chat windows, and tweaking the Cubefiguration menu while the rest of life happens.

Phase 03

Drop Switch

When everything feels stable, I'll quietly push a build and tweet it. That's the "launch plan."

Stay in the loop

Open beta appears when it wants to.

I'll post dev logs, download links, and donation info right here on cubicide.com whenever there's news. The game will launch on cubicide.app, with network docs on cubicide.net. No mailing list, no invites — just drop in when you feel like it.
